Online payments

For secure online payments, we need to follow a few simple rules.

  • Your Internet connection - When you're out and about using public Wi-Fi, keep in mind that a third party may be intercepting your data. For example, if you log in to your account on a site, your device will send your login credentials as text that can be intercepted by an attack called a man-in-the-middle. For example, when doing internet banking and other sensitive things on your device, it's best to use your mobile data. If you use VPN services, you will be protected when you use public networks to connect to the Internet.
  • Secure computer - make sure you have an antivirus. There are many free options we recommend as one of the best Kaspersky
  • Shop only from reputable online stores - do not shop from questionable sites. Check that company and contacts in the online store are reliable and correct. If there are no contacts, do not shop for your peace of mind. Research the reputation of the respective company before shopping. Check if the URL of the site is correct, for example in an homographic attack is when the domain is written in Cyrillic and another language looks the same as in another language - https: //www.аррIе.com looks like the address of the Apple site, but in practice does not is (Cyrillic letters are used and only "I" is a capital Latin letter). Such and others in which the domain is very similar or only one letter is a change so be vigilant.
  • Recognize safe sites - this is when you have a padlock at the beginning of the address bar for an encrypted connection to a site. Having it means that your connection to the site is secure. But it does not guarantee that the website is safe, scam website have encrypted connection, too.
  • Payment methods - when there are no standard payment methods. By standard methods we mean payments by debit and credit cards, ePay.bg, PayPal.com and others for Bulgarian online shops.
  • After ordering, check the email message for your purchase and save the receipt
  • Do not save your card details on websites, app, browsers, on paper or on your mobile device as a note
  • Do not use the same password everywhere
  • Activate messages from your bank when the balance of your account changes
  • If there is a problem with the product or service, contact the shop

You see, we have to be responsible and be careful where and what we pay online. If you have the slightest doubt, you better not shop. Beware of phishing scams, more for phishing scams read here.
